Ah! t'were the Stanleys, not that they were corrupt, they couldn't deliver and paid back the advance, but the manner in which they paid the Tory party £5 000, then set up a company and then received millions from Nooky Hancock whose constituency covers Newmarket Racecourse which is owned by the Jockey Club in which the Stanleys have/had a prominent interest. I think that's it. Summaries here and here.

Heh! Just like old times.
No really And I'm repeating myselfview topic Funny how some things nag at you ent it?
Anyway, from there a summary by LBD (what hap't to them, we don't seem to hear so much from them these days) which includes Nick Hancocks pub landlord who got a contract for stuff and a couple of others too.

That's it. Back to the topic. It was nagging at me that's all,

I’ve her looked at her Wikipedia page before but it’s quite something. This isn’t her first rodeo. In fact I am surprised to find she doesnt have a financial scandal connected with a rodeo company she set up before it went bust in suspicious circumstances

This probably makes me an awful person, but I would not be at all surprised if the stories of her tough childhood have not been somewhat embellished.

Seems entirely in keeping with the institution of the Lord's. Both in its current form and in fact every century since it was formed.

As said elsewhere - even if they don't, it at least puts down a marker that the government will pursue people/companies, so may in the very least deter some in the future.

Various suggestions - including one that the couple go around the country and give everyone in the house £1.77 with an apology for taking it.

And they can take her title away from her asafp as far as I'm concerned.

I have a friend who's a Baroness (a working Labour Peer with a background in the charity sector). To equate Monie to her is a travesty.

There were lots of very dodgy payout through the Cultural Recovery Fund. Government told the Arts Council to get it distributed asap, which meant that all the checks and balances went out the window.

I know of a number of companies who took the money and closed up shop not much later without producing any output. The fund was specifically created to fund projects and production - not just refill the coffers. There was no follow up or recoupment.
