The irony being that it is possible to ban mostly eliminate chemtrails/contrails by rerouting aircraft to avoid regions of the atmosphere that would generate persistent contrails. This is likely to have a positive impact on climate change, but the contrail haters would probably hate that there would be an incidental benefit.

Yes, there's a likely CO2 burden of a few percentage points, but removing the persistent contrails would potentially allow far greater cooling of the atmosphere at night*, and this could reduce the warming effects of air travel by (reportedly) over 50%.

* during the post 9/11 lockdown of US Airspace, the diurnal temperature variation over the country was significantly increased** https://www.jstor.org/stable/24868704 potentially due to the lack of contrails generated by air traffic

** doubters may suggest it was due to 'unusually clear weather' following 9/11, but maybe that was another side effect.
