Saw a post on LI yesterday where some person involved in building professed their support for Reform in order to get houses built...

Someone waded him to remind him that Jenrick was a former housing minister and achieved sweet FA.

Another questioned why the algorithm had service up this post given they didn't know the person, but it was clear they were ill and they hoped they got better soon.

I don't generally like political posts on LI but that one turned out quite funny.

Yep, a trick the Tories pulled time and time again - find some way of enriching your mates (avoiding a tax; profitable public sector contracts, whatver) and the mate then donates a lump of it to the Tory Party.

I hate it - it's corruption - the taxpayer, in effect, financing to Tories !!

An interesting article
https://www.warrington-worldwide.co.uk/ ... al-crisis/

A Reform councillor on Warrington Borough Council has defected to the Conservatives because of "a lack of serious engagement from his former party" in respect of the Council's funding crisis. His 'concerns were dismissed as “not a priority”' by Reform UK HQ

Pretty damning of Reform as a political party.

Jenrick as Shadow Chancellor... big title for a party with a handful of MP's.

Still, at least he understands numbers up to £12,000... could have ended up with "30p Lee"

Braverman just announced Reform wants to scrap the Equality Act should they get into government. Irony abounds. And evil, lots of evil.

Does she not understand she's a political "beard"? Those racist f.ckers would throw her out too if they could.

Reporting on a presser at Church House, Westminster. Which I understand is the HQ of the C of E. OK, the C of E will want to make money from its spaces, letting them out to all sorts as they do from their many church halls throughout the country. Or is the C of E now the Reform party at prayer?

Another defection to Reform.

No, not from Labour or the Tories, but from Restore, who in the defector's words are "sinister": https://www.northantstelegraph.co.uk/ne ... ng-5605313.

Joined Restore after being bombarded with messages by them. That’s the kind of strong moral compass I want from my councillors! Join whoever texts you the most.

He said they are "more sinister than he realised", implying he didn't mind that they are sinister to some degree.

Restore's founder and leader, Rupert Lowe MP, is so proud of them he sits in the Commons as an independent, not a Restore member. Though since they only registered as a political party 10 days ago, perhaps he just hasn't got around to it yet.

Odd thing to want to have separate parties for local (Great Yarmouth First) and national (Restore Britain) representation.

Though it has to be said that a party with the initials GYF would be a gift to those with a puerile sense of humour.

George Cottrell is a close aide to Nigel Farage. Indeed, he was in Farage's company when he was arrested at Chicago O'Hare Airport for wire fraud, a crime for which he served a few months in a US prison.

Recently Farage and other senior Reform figures were present at the launch of a book he has co-written with Lawrence Burke called How to Launder Money (Grauniad report).

The authors say, this book includes no information that money launderers and criminals are not already aware of. Rather it is a book for for the rest of us to understand what they do, and so how we might stop them.

I find this a bit curious. Christopher Harborne is the largest single donor to Reform, having given them £22m according to that reference. I would perceive him as just the kind of person whose interest lies in perpetuating the London laundromat. He is a multi-billionaire crypto-entrepreneur. It seems to me and to many people that the main practical application of crypto-currency is money laundering. There are others, but that is the main one.

Perhaps Farage finds it convenient to give the appearance of wanting to do something about money laundering. But those whose interest lies in perpetuating the London laundromat are major political donors, which might be why no government has really done anything about it. I don't see Farage doing anything more about it than Trump, who shamelessly gives pardons to prominent fraudsters and money-launderers.

Farage says Reform shouldn't have tried to run Worcs council (BBC).

He is literally saying, Reform don't do solving important and difficult problems. Let other politicians need to sort out the mess they made.

Indeed, fixing nasty situations is rarely pretty. But, curiously, the usual reason that voters want a new administration, is because the previous one made a mess and they don't trust them to fix it. To admit that you don't want to fix it, is a bit of a foot-shooting moment for a politician

Perhaps with this admission he is a fair weather politician, Farage will find a way to lose the future election that the pollsters currently tell us is his to win.
